This week I am going to try to take down this book called Revolution by George Barna. If you are not familiar with Barna he does all kinds of research all the time about the church and demographics and trends and stuff. He finds out some pretty interesting things. What he writes about in this book deals with the church and how new kinds of churches are popping up everywhere. He claims that the church is changing (hence the word revolution) and that it will not look anything like it does today in just a few years. I don't know if I agree with him but it sounds interesting and so I am going to read his book to see what he has to say. I'll let you know what I find out when I finish it.

The Radical Reformission & Wild at Heart

So I finished my school reading last week and now I am reading two other really good books. I have really been wanting to read a book by Mark Driscoll for quite a while now and since I read something by Rob Bell I thought now is the time. Phil loves Mark Driscoll. I think he might love him in a pastoral your my hero kind of way. As I am reading this book I am finding out why. He really does have some great insight and so far the book is very inspiring. It is all about how we need to engage our culture with the timeless truth of the gospel. I couldn't agree more. I let you know more about the book when I finish it.
As for Wild
at Heart this is one of my favorite books. I have read it a couple of times before but now me and Josh and Jake Franklin are reading it together and so that is cool. Maybe those guys will learn what it means to be a man. I wouldn't bet on it yet though. Especially that Josh guy. This should be fun.

A Little Seminary Reading...
Well, I finished Velvet Elvis this weekend and so it is time to do a little school reading. Right now I am taking a class that covers the books: Ruth, Psalms, Jonah, Romans, Ephesians and Philippians. It is definitely a hodge-podge class but so far it has been pretty good. My prof is really smart and knows his stuff, so that is nice. The book I have to read this week is actually by him. It is called And I will Praise Him: A Guide to Worship in the Psalms. I think after reading this maybe I will be ready to lead worship on Sundays until we get Jason back. Okay, maybe not. But the book should be cool. I love the book of Psalms and my prof has really devoted himself to studying it (hence the book) and so I am looking forward to it. I will let you know what I thought of it when I finish.

Velvet Elvis?
So I started Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell last night. I am about half way through it and it is a thinker. For different reasons Rob Bell rubs me wrong, but he does have some interesting things to say in this book. He loves to question things. I am afraid that he enjoys questioning things more than he enjoys proclaiming the truth, but he does bring a new perspective. I am reading this book so I can really know more about this guy and what he is saying. He seems to be a pretty big deal in Christian circles right now and so I thought I better find out why. Anyway, this is what I am reading right now. I'll let you know what I think about it when I finish.

Walk Across the Room
I started a new book yesterday that I think I am really going to enjoy. It is by Bill Hybels, the Pastor of Willow Creek in Chicago. The book is all on evangelism and allowing yourself to be led by the Spirit to talk to people about Christ. Sharing the gospel with people is one of my favorite things to do, there is nothing like it. My hope is that this book will help motivate me to listen to the Spirit's leading in that area on a daily basis.
