Relationships and God
What's up. So yeah, I missed last weeks post...sorry about that. Anyway, my last post should have been enough to chew on for two weeks. I know I got deep, but I liked it, I hope you did too. So keeping with that streak here goes another. It seems like God keeps reminding me of the same truth over and over again for the past 6 months or so. I think it is Phil's teaching. As you might have noticed, Phil teaches with a real relational bent. He is always talking about how God wants to bless us and how Jesus is our friend. He makes it sound as if all that matters to Christianity is forming a deeper friendship/relationship with God and then living out of that relationship in a way that reflects Him to the world. And for what it is worth I think he has it right. And so, from his teaching, and other things God has thrown my way, I have been constantly reminded that God loves people and not in that kind of long distance relationship kind of love, but in that I want to see you everyday for as long as I can kind of love. I think that the fact that God is relational to His core is an amazing thing. I wouldn't want it any other way. I love the fact that Jesus obviously really loved people when He was on earth. That he loved hanging out with people and people were attracted to him not for his looks or his prestige (though he was God) but because he made them feel valued and loved. God has a way in doing that because he made us to find our value through him...so when we are with him we feel that. It is in the relationship with him that we find the satisfaction we spend our whole life vainly pursuing outside of him. We are so stupid but he is so good. I love that he doesn't get fed up with us and step on us like I get mad at an ant that bites me and so I step on the whole mound to teach them a lesson. God is so different than me. I love that. I love that he loves me so much and he loves you so much. I know when we get to heaven all we will want to do is hang out with him and feel loved and valued like we were meant to feel. It is going to be amazing because he is amazing. So yeah, that is what I keep coming back to. God is all about relationships. I find I am born to have relationships and when I don't I feel like something is missing, like I am lost and lonely. God made me that way. He made me and you to find joy in him through a strong and intimate relationship. He wants that and I love him for it.
