So here is my new blog, and it is going to be a running blog so you need to help me out with this. What I am going to do is pose an idea based off the premise that The Great Adventure is better than...something (you fill in the blank). I am starting it off with it is better than a trip to Hawaii and I will give ten reasons why. After you have read my entry you need to come up with something the Great Adventure is better than and give ten reasons why you think that is the case. So here it goes...the first entry.
Why the Great Adventure is better than...Hawaii:
10. You can go to Hawaii anytime (most of us never will, but we could) the Great Adventure is only once a year.
9. If Hawaii was all that great it would be called The Great Hawaii, but it isn't so it isn't
8. When it comes down to it Hawaii is just one big Volcano of hot molten lava, but the Great Adventure is a huge volcano of love.
7. Steven Curtis Chapman never did a song called, "This is the Great Hawaii"
6. Hula skirts vs. The Sweet Cape the "teen" character gets to wear, enough said
5. In Hawaii you can get wet but during the Great Adventure you can get Wet and Wild on Wednesday and Friday
4. Going to Hawaii lasts a week or two, what we do in the Great Adventure will last for all eternity
3. There is no chance of being eaten by a shark during the Great Adventure
2. During the Great Adventure we get to lead people to Christ, in Hawaii they just lead people around a dumb mountain.
1. If you go to Hawaii all they will give you is a Leigh, but during the Great Adventure God gives people eternal life

Hmmm, I guess I will compare the Great Adventure to Mountain Dew...
10. You can enjoy the mountain-dewyness-of-much-pleasure-and-caffeine any time you want, but the Great Adventure is only once a year.
9. Mountain Dew is good for your soul, but the GA is about reaching other's souls
8. Mountain Dew is absolutly worthless when it comes to Drip-Drip-Drop. I mean, we could use it on Wet 'n Wild Wednesday, but it would be expensive, and when it dried it would be all sticky, and it would be an abominable waste of all the wonderful Mountain Dew.
7. During the GA, there is no chance of falling down a mountain*
6. You don't have to do the dew to do the GA
5. There are only 7 official flavors of Mountain Dew, but the flavor of the GA changes from year to year, from club to club, from team to team, from church to church, from student to student, from kid to kid, and from each new brother or sister in Christ, to each new brother or sister in Christ
4. The games we do at the clubs are way cooler than the hand-slap game*
3. No matter how much MD you drink, it is pretty hard to get any crazier than Peter in the bible lessons we did (If you did it right)
2. It really isn't called "The-Great-Mountain-Dew-That-Everybody-Knows-Lasts-For-All-Eternity". It's just plain Mountain Dew.
1. While Mountain Dew can give you that extra boost of energy, helping you go crazy, or to help you stay up at various youthgroup all-nighters, during the GA we run on God power. It is way cooler and way more glorifying to God when we are able to do things not on our own, but totaly depending on God, being able to say with confidence "look, there's God over there, working in all those people's hearts. Isn't my God the Greatest of them all?"
*see the Mountain Dew commercials on the Mountain Dew website in order for this to make sense
the great adventure is better than doing drivers ed to get your liciens
10.you dont have to drive you have a personal driver.
9.in drivers ed you have to take a bunch of tests why take a test when you can have a blast.
8. you have to go to a class and sit why sit when you can be running around
7.you have a weird teacher so why would you have a teacher when you can be the teacher
6. you meet kids your age who hate you why do that when you can have kids who will love you
5.you can't talk um hello this is summer why not talk when you can yell
4.you get plenty of sleep why do that when you can get just a little
3. in drvers ed people change you why do that when you can help change people
2. why try to make new friends when you can hangout with your best friends
1.why get a piece of paper when you can get all of the cookies and popcicles you could ever want
Why The Great Adventure is Better Than a Saquid:
10. Saquids can give you a brain-freeze, GA does not.
9. Saquids melt, GA melts your heart.
8. While a carnival in your mouth is cool, a carnival on a parking lot is way cooler.
7. Saquids cost money, GA doesn't cost any teen a dime.
6. Saquids are served cold, GA is served with God's love.
5. After 5 days, you don't want to eat another saquid, but yet you can still find energy for the kids in GA.
4. If Dave were still alive, he'd tell you, GA is way better.
3. The people who serve saquids don't care about you personally, the people who serve in the GA care about you for eternity.
2. My documentary for GA is going to be way better than any commercial endorsing saquids.
1. A saquid might last you 15 minutes tops, but the impact of GA can last forever!
Now somebody, top that.
(Jake, dude, it is LEI)
why the Great Adventure is better than a summer in France:
10. It only takes about 15-20 minutes to get from house to house, or three hours from austin to waco, but it takes at least 8-10 hours to get to France!
9. Sure, the metro and the plane are fun (at first...), but it isn't nearly as awsome as jamming out in the driver's cars, the parking lot, and the elevators (not to mention being driven takes much less effort)!
8. Maybe $125 seems like a lot, but really, is it worth comparing??!
7. In France, there is Notre Dame and Sacre Coeur, some churches that are really only good for looking nice even though they are really cool. In Austin, maybe our church looks a little different, but it is way more than just there for show - it is where God's work takes place every day (not to mention our church is where about 20-25 of the coolest people hang out every day during the GA - way better than a bunch of picure snapping tourists)
6. In France you can tire yourself out seeing things man has made and done, in the GA you will be refreshed seeing things God has made and done.
5. To be a little bit selfish, "Jerusalem" (our home town) is way more convenient than "the ends of the earth" =)
4. Maybe darkeness rejects light and the gospel sounds like gibberish to some people at first, but "gibberish" takes on a whole new meaning after a few weeks in France!
3. Castles and museums and churches are all awesome treasures - but doing the great adventure is storing up way better ones in heaven. Plus, you get tons of treasures in not-so-shiney form evey day: such as little kids tackling you and throwing a football at your face; when the problem kids give you a totally unexpected hug; "um, um, jesus was dying on the cross for me so i could go to heaven?!"
I'd rather wait for my heavenly castle, if you know what I mean!
2. Is French food really better than the food you enjoy so much more during the BYBC week? I mean, no doubt, it is awesome, but I think the food you eat at odd hours during BYBCs, whether it is fast food, a potluck, or food that lovely women slaved over to provide is much more heartily enjoyed at times.
(OK, that one wasn't totally true. Really, food in France is probably better, but the concept is still there!)
1. In France, you see awesome stuff. Period. But in the GA, you see more awesome stuff, that you can't really touch - a bunch of teenagers come together, go from impartial church-goers to brothers and sisters in Christ; little kids and grown adults understand God's grace and salvation; answered prayer; and you see Jesus being.....incredible.
Why the Great Adventure is better than playing electric guitar.
10. Why have a big, heavy guitar hanging on your shoulders when you can have little kids hangning all over you?
9. Who wants to lug around big amps when you can move boxes to makes the sweetest maze in the world?
8. OverDrive sounds cool, but working in overdrive is even cooler.
7. In guitar you have to fool around with wires. In the GA you become a fool for Christ.
6. In guitar you fumble for fingering, and in the GA you fumble for lines. But unlike in guitar, the kids are more forgiving.
5. You might look cool playing guitar, but in the GA you look cool to God.
4. Why reach for you pick when you can reach all of Austin (sorry, that's pretty corny)?
3. You grow calluses in Guitar, but you grow spiritualy in the GA.
2. If you get wet when playing guitar, you might blow up. Not true with the GA.
1. With guitar you can share a song, but with the GA you can share the Gospel.
